Tell me about yourself. Where are you from and what are you up to now?
I was born and raised in Shorewood and after 18 Wisconsin winters I chose a different latitude for college, specifically 30°8’ N, 81° W. I attended Flagler College in Saint Augustine, Florida (The oldest city in America). I graduated in the Class of 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree both in Political Science and Coastal Environmental Science. I was a student-athlete all four years on the Women’s Cross Country Team Division II. When I wasn’t training or studying you’d likely find me one of three places: leading historic tours, ‘mocking between two palm trees, or most commonly scuba diving with my fellow fishes. Being back in Milwaukee you can still find me soaking up the sunshine with the latest NatGeo in my mock, daydreaming of my next scuba adventure!
What excites you most about becoming an instructor?
Throughout my life I have been apart of competitive teams from varsity soccer to collegiate cross country. Within the team environment I felt a sense of family. During my four years at Flagler, our team found ourselves embracing our talents and hurdles as a family – Ohana.
SPIRE has the warmth of community that resonates the sense of Ohana once again for me. As a SPIRE team, I love how each individual’s energy can drive the ones around you. I want to foster a healthy and fun lifestyle for our athletes while motivating athletes to extend themselves beyond their own perceived abilities. I find joy in seeing smiles throughout the class and knowing we are all striving for confidence, strength, and excellence in everything we do.
Other than cycling, what kind of workouts do you do?
During the summers in Wisconsin you’ll find me running the trails endlessly as well as guiding kayak tours on Lake Michigan! Once the temperature drops I tend to migrate indoors for soccer, Brewcity crossfit, and yoga.
What is your favorite post-workout snack?
Depends on the day of the week! Could be an adult bevy, but the majority of the time my go to post-workout snacks are homemade juices & acai bowls. Jack LaLanne & I are inseparable!
What song pumps you up the most?
Ghostwriter by RJD2 – Game days & Race days “Go To”. Lyrics tend to stick with me on this endless loop in my head. Ghostwriter is a great instrumental track that builds with intensity, at the same time calms any nerves preparing me for the match ahead!
