ABOUT RUTH PAYNE: She fell in love with swimming, biking and running as a small child. With a pool in the back yard, plenty of built in friends (4 brothers and 2 sisters), access to a bike and lots of running around the neighborhood, the recipe for multi-sport was born. Her official racing didn’t begin until 2006, when she completed her first sprint distance race at the age of 36. Her journey into multi-sports really took off in 2011, when she did her first ironman. Since that time, she's completed seven full ironman races and 11 half ironman races, including qualifying for the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona Hawai’i and the 70.3 World Championship in Chattanooga, TN - both in 2017.
