Tell me about yourself. Where are you from AND WHERE ARE YOU ATTENDING SCHOOL?
I grew up in Farmington, New Mexico, then came to Milwaukee for school at Marquette University. I am currently a Junior in the nursing program. I am also on the Marquette Crew team.
What excites you most about becoming an instructor?
I love the energy that comes from working out with a group of people! Everyone feeds off of each other's energy. It is so motivating to see people taking classes and working hard. It's like being part of a team!
Other than rowing, what kind of workouts do you do?
I really like to mix it up and try a bit of everything, but I pretty consistently stick with running. I love incorporating strength workouts as well, whether it's lifting on my own or trying a new body pump or power yoga class. Outside of the gym, I enjoy playing a good soccer game or tennis match to switch it up. I am very competitive, so sports-related, or race-like workouts are where I can really push myself.
What is your favorite post-workout meal?
I love a good breakfast. Usually an egg white and veggie omelette is my go-to with a side of fruit, most likely an apple.
What song really pumps you up the most?
When I really need to get fired up, I love "Fly" by Protohype. It was on a rowing video that sparked my interest for Marquette's Crew team. It's one of my favorites for erg test pieces and hard workouts in general.
What is your favorite workout clothing?
My go-to workout clothing are t-shirts from sports and events over the years. These have some cool memories attached to them.
What is your favorite Milwaukee restaurant?
I love "Wolf Peach". It's a cozy, casual and communal restaurant with a great view of the river and a to-die-for brunch menu.
WHO IS YOUR CELEB CRUSH?
It would have to be a tie between pro soccer players, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo. I have a weakness for soccer players.
Who inSPIREs you?
My dad. He has always been my biggest inspiration. He got me started in many of the sports I've played and sets a great example of a modest, hard-working lifestyle.
What motto do you live by?
"Leave every person, place, and situation you come across a little better than how you found it."
If you could retire tomorrow, what would you do?
I would leave to travel and explore! I love any kind of outdoor activities, so I'd definitely do some hiking, biking, snowboarding and maybe try some funky new water sports in different places around the world!
