Question: Tell me about yourself. Where are you from and what brought you to Milwaukee? When you are not at SPIRE, what else keeps you busy?
Answer: I’m originally from Serbia and lived there until I was 17 years old before coming to US. My job brought me to Milwaukee --- I teach neuroscience and psychology and UW-Milwaukee and am also a research scientist working on Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Question: Do you compete in any type of sport or activity?
Answer: I danced (ballet and modern). A knee injury led me to yoga, which then led me to cycling, watersports, rowing and paddling. Now I compete in Dragonboat racing.
Question: What made you decide to become an instructor?
Answer: For me, it was a natural progression. I was a dance instructor for several years and always wanted to be able to inspire people, and group fitness allows me to do that.
Question: What makes your class different from others?
Answer: Mind-body connection. I try to bring mindfulness and body awareness to every class.
Question: What certifications do you have?
Answer: Schwinn cycling and yogafit.
Question: What does your personal fitness program include?
Answer: I cycle, row, practice yoga, paddle and SUP. When the weather is good, I like to be out on the water. I also strength train and do CrossFit once a week.
Question: Favorite post workout treat?
Answer: Starbucks latte with whole milk
Question: What’s the one thing most people don’t know about you?
Answer: Probably that I’m from Serbia and that I’m a research scientist.
Question: Do you have a motto?
Answer: The only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen.
Question: What’s your favorite drink?
Answer: Green tea latte
Question: What is your favorite book? Movie?
Answer: The Great Gatsby – book and movie (old one with Redford)
Question: What inspires you?
Answer: Learning new things.
Question: What is your favorite restaurant in Milwaukee?
Question: What is in your refrigerator right now?
Answer: Greek Yogurt (2%), sugar snap peas, milk, mangoes and cheese
Question: If you could retire tomorrow, what would you do?
Answer: Become a surfer and be a beach bum
Question: What is your favorite song to get pumped up?
Answer: I don’t really have one song. I like all kinds of music, except I’m not really into country. If I had to pick one, Canned Heat by Jamiroquai – the song from Napoleon Dynamite
