With the holiday season being in full swing, we at SPIRE wanted to take time to sit back and reflect on the joy 2016 brought us all. We have been so fortunate to be apart of the Milwaukee community, to have the clients and friends we do, and to have the ability to continuously change people’s lives.
Our SPIRE Squad was asked either what their favorite memory of the year was or what they are thankful for. Checkout their responses below!
Elizabeth- my favorite memory this year was being able to spend time with my sister, her husband, and their four kids, in their new home in Charlotte, NC.
This year, I'm thankful for my health. For being able to move, and sweat, and stay active with my SPIRE family! I am also thankful for my friends and family everyday!
Danielle- I have a lot of great memories from 2016 - I don’t know if I can choose just one! Launching the first Still Kickin MKE event was certainly a highlight, especially with so much support from my SPIRE family! I also met both of my fitness goals this year: I finished my first century bike ride with Kelsey Weaver and Nicole Dermer as part of the Trek 100! I also ran my first half marathon under my goal time in the beautiful city of Vancouver!
I am so grateful for community, health, and travel opportunities. I cannot wait to see what the next year brings!
Jesse- I would say I have a tie between my two favorite memories from the year. One is becoming a Crew instructor and getting to share my love for the erg with others. The other is simply seeing friendships develop between clients at SPIRE-I also became good friends with a fellow client and value that friendship very much.
I have so, so many things that I am thankful for! I'm most importantly thankful for my health, family, and friends. I am also thankful for mint chip ice cream, my car, trees, my warm and cozy apartment, technology, that I can pay my bills, sunshine, house plants, laughter, tough experiences that have made me stronger...where do I stop!
Whitney- Spending my 30th birthday in Nashville with my closest friends!
I am thankful for family, both given and chosen.
Alicia- My favorite memory has been getting married on a beautiful September day to the man of my dreams. It was the most memorable day of my life thus far and the day was more wonderful and amazing than I could have dreamed of.
I am thankful for the gift of life and all that it has to offer, especially my family, friends, and puppy. They are the ones who challenge me to be my best, always.
Margaux- My favorite memory was going to my first Green Bay Packers game!
I am thankful for the opportunities Marquette has/will continue to give me.
Jenell- The Grow Gold Charity Event when our SPIRE Squad was rolling deep and showed up to help roll the bikes down to Kit and Ace. It’s always fun to have team bonding/get involded in the community.
I am thankful for so much…the ability to be strong and move my body! The community we’ve built in Milwaukee/the people I’ve surrounded myself with. My family, my dogs. I am thankful that taking chances and risks can pay off!
Kaley- My favorite memory from this year was the Late Night event with Marquette at SPIRE.
I am thankful for my three awesome roommates!
Brandon- Getting to run in the sunshine with our SPIRE clan during the Triple Threat Triathlon this June is my favorite memory of the year.
I am thankful SPIRE calls Milwaukee home. It’s an invaluable asset to the community.
Olivia- My favorite memory was making Milwaukee my full-time home.
I am thankful for my family; I don’t know what I would do without them. I am also so, so thankful for my cats! I just adopted a four-month-old kitten, so I’m super happy.
