Tell us a little bit about yourself—where are you from and what brought you to Milwaukee?

I grew up in Waukesha. I am a graduate student at UWM, so I moved to the east side to be close to school.

What got you interested in spin?

I started taking spin classes on a whim at The Princeton Club in New Berlin, just to change up my fitness routine and lose a few pounds. I quickly became addicted and took the instructor certification course a couple years later. I’ve been teaching spin for over three years now and I love it!

What is your favorite post workout snack?

I like to eat fruit usually, a protein shake, or chocolate milk.

When you’re not at SPIRE, where are you and what are you doing?

I am probably at UWM doing laboratory research (specifically in the Milwaukee Institute for Drug Discovery), or at a coffee shop somewhere writing my PhD thesis (in Analytical Chemistry). Or, very possibly, at Adventure Rock climbing!

Who or what has inSPIRED you?

I am inspired by people who build successful careers (in any field, not just science) yet still make time for fitness routines and hobbies. Work life balance is important!

What are your top three pump up songs?

If you peruse my playlists you will probably find something upbeat from The Black Keys, Fall Out Boy, and Flo Rida.

What kind of music will we be listening to in your class?

I like to do a mixture of top 40 pop hits and alternative rock.

What is your guilty pleasure?

I definitely have a sweet tooth, Kopps frozen custard or a flight from Purple Door is positively irresistible.

What are some things on your bucket list?

I’d like to climb at Yosemite in California, and travel to every continent.

What motivates you to keep pushing hard, especially in the gym?

I feel my best when I get a good workout in every day. Also, who doesn’t want to look good naked?

What is some of the best advice you have received?

Although it sounds generic, I cannot stress enough the importance of knowing yourself, knowing what makes you feel fulfilled in life, and seeking out those experiences.

What is a unique fact that few people know about you?

I have an absurd collection of make-up brushes. I really enjoy buying them, I don’t know why…

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I hope to make it to northern Europe (like Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia) in the near future.

What is your favorite workout clothing/brand?

I have a lot of Under Armour gear and Nike gear. (Pleasant Prairie mall FTW!)
