Tell me about yourself: Where are you from? Outside of SPIRE, what keeps you busy?
I am a lifelong Wisconsinite! I grew up in Brookfield, WI and attended undergraduate at Marquette University. I am currently pursuing my law degree at Marquette as well. When I'm not studying or spinning, I like spending time with friends and family, trying new recipes (the easy ones that will give me food for a few days - feel free to send some my way), and going to coffee shops (likely to study). I love to travel and have tried to go to a new country each year since I graduated high school. Other random facts: I drink my coffee black, I love five-year aged cheddar, my favorite chocolate is dark-chocolate, and I read a lot of Scotusblog.
What are you most excited about in becoming an instructor?
The Spire Community! I think there is great energy in the studio, and while everyone has their individual long-term fitness goals, the short-term goal during the workout is the same-- getting through the class!
What motto do you live by?
"You can do it all, but you can't do it all at once." These are words that my freshman year advisor emailed me after I felt like my second semester classes would decide the rest of my professional career. This motto reminds me that in order to achieve everything I want to do, I have to take things step-by-step, and that I will not always master things on the first try. It can be exciting and inspirational to always think about the future, but more impactful to work hard in the present.
To relate it to Spire, I think of this motto quite literally. When I am on the bike, I physically cannot be doing anything else. If I am thinking about the things I have to do the rest of the day, I have to put my mind on pause and just focus on what is in front of me: conquering my workout!
